Conflict Management Skills for Group Conflict and Unionised Environments

What does this course achieve?

In your capacity as manager be able to manage conflict and prevent or resolve disputes in an effective manner. This course aims to equip you with basic skills in needs-based conflict management as well as joint problem-solving techniques for interpersonal or team conflict. The course can be conducted over two or three days, to meet clients' needs.

Course outline

  1. Understand modern negotiation theory
  2. Practice the joint problem solving process
  3. Develop effective consensus building skill including listening skills, paraphrasing; managing reactive devaluation, use of ‘I’ statements, handling anger
  4. Facilitate participative meetings
  5. Identify the obstacles to consensus building
  6. Identify the approaches to conflict management
  7. Explore the conflict dynamic

This course is accredited by the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) and is aligned to unit standard 114226 Interpret and Manage Conflicts within the Workplace (NQF occupational qualification level 5, 8 credits).
