Chairing a Disciplinary Enquiry

Be able to chair disciplinary enquiries. This course will equip you with skills in preparing for and chairing effective meetings. It will also give you ideas and techniques for managing difficult people and process challenges that inevitably develop during meetings. This course can be conducted over two or three consecutive days or in a modularized format, to meet clients' needs.


As a chairperson of a disciplinary enquiry, ensure that:

  1. The requirements of the Company’s Disciplinary Procedure have been met;
  2. The procedural requirements for a fair enquiry have been met;
  3. The substantive requirements for a fair and appropriate outcome have been met;
  4. Objections and other procedural issues are dealt with fairly;
  5. The evidence is properly assessed;
  6. A reasoned decision has been made and written.

This course is accredited by the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) and is aligned to unit standard 255514 Conduct a Disciplinary Hearing (NQF occupational qualification level 5, 15 credits).
