Managing Discipline in the Workplace

This one-day programme will introduce you to the basic requirements for managing misconduct in the workplace and carrying out disciplinary processes in a fair manner. Learn how to counsel employees for minor misconduct, issue disciplinary warnings, gather the information necessary for the preparation of a disciplinary charge (if necessary) prepare for a disciplinary enquiry.

  2. Difficulties encountered when taking disciplinary action
  3. The law of unfair dismissal
  4. Substantive and procedural considerations for dealing with misconduct fairly
  5. LRA Code of Good Practice on disciplinary action and dismissal
  6. Remedies for unfair dismissals in terms of the LRA
  7. Procedures for:
    • Disciplinary counselling
    • Issuing warnings
    • Disciplinary enquiries (e.g investigating serious misconduct, formulating a charge, preparing thoroughly for a disciplinary enquiry and understanding what will be required and what will take place during a disciplinary enquiry)

This course is accredited by the South African Board for People Practices (SABPP) and is aligned to unit standard 11286 Institute Disciplinary Action (NQF occupational qualification level 5, 8 credits).
