The Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs gave notice on the 21st June 2013 under section 21 of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No.107 of 1998), of her intention to establish accreditation standards for a panel of environmental mediators. The public are invited to submit comments to the Minister within 30 days on the discussion document recently prepared by Hendrik Kotze of the Africa Centre for Dispute Settlement. We hope that the standards set by the Minister of Justice for commercial mediators in court referred mediation are as good.
