John Brand presented a paper entitled 'Resolving labour tensions in African mining – the effective regulation of industrial democracy' at the 2014 SAIIA African mining indaba. He argues that much can be done by the parties in the mining industry to regulate industrial democracy more effectively, and that it would greatly assist if the LRA was amended to deepen industrial democracy.
