Professional background and experience:

Jayshree is an experienced attorney, mediator, and arbitrator with a legal career spanning over 25 years. She has been practicing as a sole practitioner since 1998, and since 2002, has specialised in employment law. Jayshree is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has represented both employers and employees across various legal forums, including the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), Bargaining Councils, Labour Court, and High Court. She has extensive experience advising clients on employment contracts, policies, and disciplinary procedures, and as a trainer in employment and labour law. Jayshree has chaired numerous internal disciplinary hearings and acted as both an investigator and a prosecutor in complex employment-related matters across sectors such as manufacturing, motor, retail and higher education.

Jayshree is the co-founder and Director of Aequitate Mediation & Dispute Resolution Specialists (Pty) Ltd, a wholly female-owned firm providing multi-disciplinary dispute resolution and consultancy services. She also serves as a part-time lecturer for the Legal Education and Development (LEAD) division of the Law Society of South Africa (LSSA), where she has facilitated Labour Dispute Resolution courses for candidate attorneys since 2015. Her public sector experience includes serving as Chairperson of the Municipal Bids Appeal Tribunal for the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Treasury from 2015 to 2024. Jayshree has chaired disciplinary hearings and led internal investigations for clients in the motor, manufacturing, retail, and higher education sectors. She has acted as both chairperson and prosecutor, managing misconduct cases, presenting findings, and drafting formal recommendations. From 2015 to 2024, she served as Chairperson of the Municipal Bids Appeal Tribunal for the KwaZulu-Natal Treasury, presiding over procurement-related disputes and appeals.
