Gerhard de Kock

Professional background and experience:

Gerhard de Kock obtained his BA LLB at Stellenbosch University in 1978 and was admitted as an Advocate in 1979 and is a full-time Dispute Resolution practitioner. Gerhard is a former member of the Cape Bar and served on the Cape Bar Council for two terms during his membership. In 2003, Gerhard was appointed as the first Internal Ombudsman in the financial services industry in South Africa, a position he held for 7 years. Gerhard completed his Commercial Mediation training through Conflict Dynamics in 2008 and is a CEDR internationally Accredited Commercial Mediator. Gerhard is a Fellow member of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa) (“AoA”) and serves as a mediator, arbitrator and adjudicator on the panels of the AoA, AFSA, Tokiso, Equillore and AIM. Gerhard has also served as a presiding officer in numerous disciplinary hearings, in both the initial and appeal stages. Gerhard is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Actuarial Society of South Africa and a former Chairperson of the Independent Health Complaints Committee of the Western Cape. Gerhard also offers online mediation through all the available platforms.
