Professional background and experience:

Qaqamba is an accredited mediator with Conflict Dynamics. She is a practising attorney who has specialised in labour law since 2009. With such experience, Qaqamba advises clients on complex labour matters such as retrenchments, transfer of employees in terms of section 197 of the Labour Relations Act, and matters pertaining to basic conditions of employment and employment equity disputes. Furthermore, she represents clients before forums such as Bargaining Councils, the Commission for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), the Labour Court and the Labour Appeal Court.

Mediation experience and style:

Qaqamba uses mediation to offer clients a flexible, efficient, and cost-effective solution for their disputes. Accredited and trained in workplace mediation with Conflict Dynamics, Qaqamba uses techniques and styles of practice associated with Conflict Dynamics recommended best practice. Given that she is typically involved in advising on employment disputes, she can use an evaluative style of mediation should the parties both request this, outlining any unforeseen legal issues. She is also able to assist parties undertake a risk analysis and facilitate discussions about dispute resolution options in the event of a failure to reach agreement.

Qaqamba has extensive experience in conducting a range of workplace investigations and chairing workplace disciplinary proceedings. She continuously updates her knowledge by attending training programmes organised by the profession's education body, the Law Society of South Africa's Legal and Education Development (LEAD), and is also a member of professional bodies such as South African Society for Labour Law (SASLAW) which host regular workshops to provide training on such matters.
