Professional background and experience:

Meshack is a former trade unionist who spent many years as both a shop steward and national organiser. In that capacity, he was responsible for national negotiations, mostly wage and conditions of employment. He is a former CCMA Senior Commissioner. Meshack is a former Director of Tokiso Dispute Settlement. He is the former Chairperson of the Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council (PSCBC). He is also the former Bargaining Forum Chairperson of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA), Sports Council of South Africa (SCSA), and the Bargaining Forum of the South African Nursing Council (SANC). He serves as an independent trustee for Samancor Ndizani Worker’s Trust. He is Chairperson of the Bargaining Forums at the Road Accident Fund (RAF), Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), and National Home Builders Registration Council. (NHBRC). He is also involved in community conflict resolution. Meshack has worked in Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Kenya.

Mediation experience and style:

Meshack has been a mediator since 1999 and has mediated complex disputes across many sectors and industries. He is mostly involved in labour/management mediation but has also conducted community conflict interventions. Meshack is a humble yet firm mediator who aims to get to the bottom of the problem. His strength is in establishing the underlying causes, needs, and expectations of the parties. He is tolerant and conducts processes in a professional and unbiased manner. Meshack aims for a win-win solution where although the parties may not both be entirely happy with the outcome, they are willing to live with it. He ensures that the agreements reached are sustainable and easy to implement and are professional yet drafted in simple language that is understood by both parties. Meshack guarantees confidentiality of discussions and respect for the parties.

Facilitation experience and style:

Meshack specialises in facilitation, and in particular facilitation of Relationship by Objective (RBO) processes. He has facilitated many such processes.
