Tony Wright


 

Professional background and experience:

Tony Wright qualified firstly as a commercial attorney with a top-tier law firm in Johannesburg and then as a chartered accountant with a global accounting firm in Cape Town.

Tony spent three years managing special projects with South Africa’s largest general book publisher covering a range of financial and legal projects, including intellectual property and contract management. Tony subsequently joined the forensic unit of one of the global accounting firms becoming a partner in September 2000. He gained wide experience across broad risk advisory services, including large complex commercial investigations, contract governance and alternative dispute resolution, gaming and regulatory advisory, dispute advisory and expert testimony, intellectual property management, corporate governance, enterprise risk management and internal auditing.

Tony was the lead partner in South Africa for several global companies in managing assignments in multiple jurisdictions throughout Africa and the Middle East. Key clients included IBM, Microsoft, HP and Shell, which in turn introduced Tony to their major customers and service providers in every sector of business in many countries.

Mediation experience and style:

Tony has led assignments across most industries within the private sector and he has operated across all three tiers of government and for public sector bodies. He managed business units on both a regional and a national basis.

Within the forensic group, he assisted in the development of contract compliance services on a global basis and was the global lead for the service. His experience includes the preparation of numerous expert or factual finding reports, including loss of profits calculations, independent assessments of accounting issues and corporate governance. Tony has been appointed both as referee for the High Court dispute and as a commercial mediator.
