Basetsana Molebatsi

Professional background and experience:

Basetsana is a qualified attorney, co-founder, and director of Harris Nupen Molebatsi Inc, a full-service boutique law firm, who boasts over eighteen years' experience in corporate and commercial law, corporate governance, risk and compliance, public law, including technology and telecommunications. Her extensive corporate governance experience includes serving as the chairperson of the Women’s Legal Centre Trust, a public interest law centre focusing on the advancement and enforcement of women’s rights in South Africa. She also contributed as a member of the disciplinary committee of the National Soccer League of South Africa; the Gauteng Cricket Board; and as an independent non-executive director of Vumatel (Pty) Ltd, CIVH (Pty) Ltd and Open Secrets NPC. In 2019, Basetsana was appointed by the honourable President of South Africa, Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, as a member of his Presidential Advisory Review Panel into Intelligence. 

Mediation experience and style:

Basetsana has been appointed by Conflict Dynamics to mediate commercial matters in the ICT, manufacturing and banking and finance sectors as well as disputes within the education sector. She has experience as a mediator relating to the development, negotiation and implementation of Bus Rapid Transport systems. She has also been an observer and advisor to mining companies involved in mediation processes, as well as advising a client in a large commercial mediation within the banking and financial sector.

Facilitation experience and style:

Basetsana has facilitated a round table discussion with relevant stakeholders on the Department of Communication's proposed rollout of the broadcast digital migration programme. She has also conducted other facilitated discussions for the Engineering Council of South Africa. 

Chairing enquiries and investigations experience: 

Basetsana has chaired numerous hearings and through her law firm, Harris Nupen Molebatsi Inc, has conducted many investigations, including forensic inquiries.
