Zetu Makamandela-Mguqulwa

Zetu is a Director of Conflict Dynamics and an accredited mediator with Conflict Dynamics and the Africa Centre for Dispute Settlement. She is a coach and assessor on the Conflict Dynamics Commercial Mediation Skills training course and is a mediator, facilitator, and coach on the Conflict Dynamics panel. Zetu is a certified organizational ombudsman practitioner and was the ombud at the University of Cape Town for 10 years, from 2011 to 2020.

Zetu has extensive experience in conflict resolution, transformation, gender matters, workplace diversity, change management, and other group processes such as dialogue, deliberative methodology, and other meaningful conversations. She has held fellowships at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School and at the Kettering Foundation in the USA. After receiving training in consultancy from Linkage in the USA she worked with local and overseas consultants in change management.

During this time Zetu worked for Development Dynamics as a consultant and later registered her consultancy, Mindshift.  

Zetu has held other positions such as chapter manager for South African Women Educationalists and later as transformation coordinator and ombud for the Health Sciences Faculty at UCT. She was a change management specialist for SA’s National Oil Company, PetroSA, and is now a Conflict Dynamics accredited mediator where she serves as coach and assessor for the Mediation Skills training course. She is a facilitator, speaker, and coach.  Zetu is a member of the International Outreach Committee (IOC) of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA), an organization that establishes professional standards for organisational ombudsman for whom she also serves as the IOC African Regional Chairperson. Zetu holds a Bachelor of Social Science with Honors from the University of Cape Town and a Master of Arts from the University of the Western Cape.
